Data Governance Specialist
The Data Governance Specialist is responsible for establishing, managing, and optimizing the data governance framework, policies, and standards across Vorwerk. This role needs to ensure the quality, consistency, security, and availability of data assets to support business operations, analytics, and decision-making.
The Specialist will be part of the Data Office and will work together with cross-functional teams, including IT, compliance, and business stakeholders, to design data standards and reinforce the development of overarching data governance and the establishment of a data governance organization.
Data Governance Framework Development
- Design and implement astrong data governance framework, including policies, procedures, and data standards.
- Collaborate with data stewards and data owners to ensure data governance practices align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Establish guidelines for data ownership, stewardship, and quality management.
Data Quality Management
- Define data quality metrics and manage processes for monitoring and enhancing data quality across systems.
- Work closely with the Data Office to identify, investigate, and resolve data quality issues.
- Conduct periodic data quality assessments and generate reports to track progress.
Data Cataloging and Metadata Management
- Implement and maintain a data catalog to ensure transparency and accessibility of data assets.
- Define metadata standards and ensure consistent documentation of data sources, lineage, and transformations.
Compliance and Security Management
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and data protection laws, such as GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.
- Develop and enforce data security protocols to protect sensitive information from unauthorized access or breaches.
- Conduct audits and assessments to monitor compliance and manage data-related risks.
Data Strategy Support
- Contribute to the development of the organization's data strategy by identifying opportunities for data innovation and optimization.
- Support data management and analytics initiatives by providing governance insights and aligning data practices with business objectives.
- Monitor industry trends and best practices to continuously improve the data governance program.
EXPERTISE AND SKILLS:
Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica), data cataloging, and metadata management.
Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze data issues, assess impacts, and design solutions.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and present data governance concepts effectively. Ability to communicate with different departments (IT, Legal, Privacy, Business Units) and align data management requirements. Advanced English level.
Knowledge of Regulations: Familiarity with data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and industry standards.
Project Management: Experience in managing cross-functional projects and meeting timelines, and ability to plan for changes and integrate them into the corporate culture.
Knowledge of methods: To ensure data quality, including data cleansing, validation, and integration.
Policies: Ability to develop and enforce corporate policies for data processing, storage, and backup. Experience in implementing data policies and processes that withstand regular audits and compliance requirements.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or certification in Data Management, Governance, or related area is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in data governance, data management, compliance, or a related role.
